I'm pretty late here (I'm sure many people have already seen it), but I just finished watching Escaflowne and it's Fabulous[/size]. It's very interesting and exciting, although I thought it was just a little fuzzy in some logic which probably got lost in translation. It's still great because of the great characters and the thought-provoking ideas...man versus destiny, and the very interesting bit about Sir Issac Newton. Very interesting indeed. Thoroughly enjoyed watching it and absolutely love the wings on Van Fanel (voiced by Tomokazu Seki) and his handsome, sexy older brother Folken (Joji Nakata)! Some of my favourite voices are here, including Shiozawa Kaneto who plays Zongi (sadly, a very small and brief role as bad guy). Plus, I didn't think I would say this, but Escaflowne the..."robot" is beautiful especially when it transforms into a dragon. Very impressive. Pic shows Van standing on Escaflowne with Allen Schezar (Shinichirou Miki) and Hitomi (Maaya Sakamoto) below  Other pic shows Van with wings going to rescue Hitomi. [/b]

I managed to collect the series, and it is awesome. Ending is not too good, but overall I thought it was good. I especially like when van goes into a rage and starts slicing up Dilando and his men's mobile suits.(when he first fuses with the escaflowne) I also own the movie, and what I thought was amazing was the fight scenes without the escaflowne. My favorite character is Folken, because of the black wings. He sorta reminds me of valgaav from slayers. Same colored hair too, I think. Van and Folken,  Valgaav from slayers  |

Oh! Huge pic!!  Hahaha...I can't remember the ending for Escaflowne. It's been too long since I last watched it. But I have the impression it was a happy ending....Darn, what was the ending?? *thinking hard, trying to remember* Ah! So there's an Escaflowne movie! Gosh, I didn't know that. What's the movie about? Did Van fight without escaflowne? What happened to Folken?? Hahaha...you like Folken too!! Because of his black wings....Yeah, his wings are very Cool!! He's way sexier than Van with white wings  But Folken is this poor unhappy fellow....why can't he love his brother more? Mm...I think he does love his brother but it's just that he has his own plans. He always seems troubled. Mm? But Nader, Valgaav and Folken look very different in the pics here. Hair colour looks different too! Why would Folken remind you of Valgaav? Maybe their behaviour is the same? I haven't seen Slayers. Is Valgaav some kind of demon? He's got this huge horn on his head |

The escaflowne movie is basically a shortened version of the series, but with better animation and a couple new/edited things. A couple times in the movie va uses his sword, and it sorta becomes like samurai x(not as bloody). Then i think he fights folken it gets really intence since they are both winged ones. I'm gonna watch it again since its been like a year. The ending is, van says goodbye to hitomi. They then agree that whenever they wanted to see each other they would just think of each other, then hitomi is taken back to earth through a pillar of light.
Valgaav is an antient dragon, who was reborn into a demon and because of this he cant fully transform into an antient dragon.
I thought they where similar because Valgaav and Folken both have black wings. They are both bad even though its just because of revenge. I think they both initially had good intentions.

Ah-ha!! I see. The movie sounds good. Winged Van fighting winged Folken. Yeah, I can imagine how intense it must be. Who won? You're watching it on DVD? Oh yeah, now I remember. Thanks for that Yeah, now I recall I was rather disappointed with the ending. I wanted to see Hitomi and Van together. I can't remember whether she's still able to visit Van after returning to Earth....was it kinda implied that she could? I remember it was kinda vague....The possibility of her return to Van's land was kept open. Mmm? Did Folken betray his country because of revenge? I thought it was because he wanted to change the world and make it better. Mm....Valgaav sounds interesting. I'm beginning to like him already |

I'm beginning to like him already If i remember correctly it seems like a draw, then hitomi is in trouble and falls of a cliff or something so van has to withdraw his wings and catch her. Folken first betrayed his family and kingdom to make the world better. One reason is b/c he coudnt kill a dragon so he ran away or something. The dragon spared his life. I think male members of van's family had to prove themselves by killing a dragon. After joining zoitzburg or w/e his name is, folken then betrays him after seeing the 2 cat girls die. This fails and folken dies. Yeah valgaav is pretty interesting, b/c he is the last antient dragon he gives his life up to a dark god although i he could probably take out the main characters on his own. The main character wa sthe one who killed the person who revived valgaav into a demon, so valgaav wants revenge. Valgaav also wants revenge for his dead race, b/c of the golden dragons being afraid of the antient dragons's power. (they had some legendary weapon )Later after valgaav is defeated when he is fused with the dark god, he is then reborn into a child and one of the last remaining golden dragons takes care of him. (most of them where killed by valgaav i think, others died in a war against demons. A specific demon named xellos killed 1000 golden dragons at one battle, he is also an enemy of Valgaav) |

Well so far i've just seen 2 volumes of it. It's pretty good!
I want to know if she falls in luv with Van though! It's making me sooooo mad!!!!
