Just wondering whether any of you are bothered by bad subtitles for anime.
So far, the anime I watch are imported from Malaysia, Hongkong, Taiwan. The dialogue is in Japanese and I rely on the English subtitles which are quite bad.
When the anime comes with both English and Chinese subtitles and the English is bad, I'm forced to pause at every scene in order to slowly read the Chinese subtitles. It doesn't help that I don't know some of the words. Terribly inconvenient.
Often, the English subtitles are meaningless simply because they are merely direct translations of the Chinese subtitles. And the English and Chinese subtitles don't always carry the same meaning!
It would seem that subtitles done by the Americans are much better but then the anime would be expensive.
I've had to put up with meaningless English subtitles so many times that it's proof that an anime is great when I'm still able to understand and enjoy it!
