Hm... I think I've seen many kinds of horror movies in my life. But my favourite one is Nightmare on Elm Street. Never missed any single part of it. From part 1 until 5 I've seen them all. Why I like it? Not because I'm - somehow - attracted to Freddy Krueger ;D but because the idea of being killed in your nightmare is really cool. Humans' mind is fascinating, don't you think? If you believe in something so strong, it can truly come true. Another favourite horror movie of mine is a mandarin movie which I watched a long time ago (and I forgot the title ;D). But it's about an antique dressing table whose mirror can reflect human's most dark, evil intention. It keeps changing hands from time to time and always brings misfortune to those who own it. Because beside revealing a person's dark intention, it also encourages him/her to carry it out. The story is very intense and full of heart-stopping surprises. It's better if you watch it in midnight! Creepy!

Hahaha...actually, getting killed in a nightmare is not a new idea. A long time ago, I saw a movie called Dreamscape which started the idea that a person could be murdered in his dreams. I can't remember the details of the movie but I remember the ending was very exciting and terrifying--there was this huge snake with evil, knowing eyes that scared the hell out of the bad guy who died in his nightmare. Died of fright At that time, the movie really shook me. The idea that people could be murdered in their dreams was truly, terribly amazing and I never forgot it. I think for a lot of people, it stayed in their minds: qwipster.net/dreamscape.htmHey, Pippichan, that Chinese movie sounds very interesting and slightly familiar...I searched for it online. Is it called The Mirror[/i]? www.destroy-all-monsters.com/themirror.shtmlMm...my favourite horror movie is...I can't seem to think of any at the moment. The most recent one was the Chinese movie called The Eye. I was scared for a few weeks after watching it Yeah, traumatized. That's why I try not to watch scary movies, not even in the afternoons. Midnight is definitely out of the question!! Funny ghost movies are ok, however...

Yeah, it's THE MIRROR, indeed! ;D
Oh, watching THE EYE scares you for a few weeks afterwards? *grinning naughtily* Yeah, I've seen it but I think it's not very scary. There's THE EYE 2 but I haven't got chance to see it. And there's Japanese horror movie, JU-ON 1 and 2. Have you seen them? Not scary, I think. A little doesn't make sense, instead.

The Eye is not scary for you?? Whoa!! That's the creepiest and scariest movie I've ever seen! It's because it's set in surroundings that are almost the same as where I live. The situations are so normal and ordinary in my everyday life. So after watching the movie, I became very suspicious of my surroundings, especially in the evenings Ah, I haven't seen The Eye 2. Didn't they change the main actress? Anyway, I didn't bother to check it out and didn't seem to hear any reviews about it... Mm...I don't usually watch Japanese or Korean movies. The last Japanese horror movie I saw was Dark Water and it wasn't very good, although ok. The Ring (Ringu) was good and exciting. I like the leading actress and actor I saw the trailers of the Korean horror movies, but they didn't impress me. Yeah, I think the Japanese and Korean horror movies are out to confuse viewers rather than scare them I haven't seen a single Korean horror movie. Just saw the trailers and read the reviews. Hey, did you see Jeepers Creepers 2? Or how about the American version of The Ring? Final Destination?

Jeeper Creepers 2? Hm... I believe I only saw the first one. But yeah, I've watched Final Destination and american version of The Ring. Oh, btw, I heard The Ring has been published into a manga. What I really want to watch now are The Exorcist: The Beginning and The Forgotten. Have seen them? They seem very exciting! ;D Watch out what will come out of the evening darkness! Hehehehe....

The Ring in manga format? I wonder why they did that The Exorcist: The Beginning and The Forgotten? The "Forgotten" part makes me laugh. Shouldn't it be "the beginning and the end" or something? Well, it sounds interesting. I wonder who's forgotten Ah, no, I haven't seen it. Didn't even know it was up. Hahaha...trying to scare me, eh, Pippichan? Final Destination 1 and 2 were really gross. The deaths were really horrible. How do the writers/directors think of such horrible things....Ah! But I like the idea of escaping death Cool!

Hahaha! I knew you'd think it's a title of one movie. Actually, they are two movies; The Exorcist: The Beginning. And the other one is The Forgotten. Gotcha! If you like Sixth Sense, I think you'll like The Forgotten. Hm, you consider Final Destination 1 and 2 really gross. I wonder if you see Freddy vs Jason... you'll throw up? Or have nightmares for nights afterwards. I don't know why they make The Ring manga. Maybe because it's famous? But, I think once you've known the story, it won't be scary anymore. Hey, I just said, watch out. Not try to scare you. *wear innocent face*

pippie, you've been naughty! ;D but i agree w/ you the eye isn't that scary. i mean it's scary coz it's a horror movie but not that scary, ay? my favourite scary movies will be 'friday the 13th'. it's actually a tv series. i used to watch it w/ my bro all the time. nicole kidman 'the other' is good. it offers different theme of scary movie w/ unexpected ending. basically i like horror movie. it's fun and thrilling. i also like chinesse scary movie which usually is funny, gets me laugh alot. like you pippie, i also waiting to see the exorcist, both of them. but i kinda tired of freddy krueger and jason. there are so many movies about them. they never seem to die or vanished forever. they always come back again that i'm so fed up of them. so if i saw them on tv, well, i can kill them, i just shut off the tv and they disappear. as for final destinations, i don't think it's scary. the first one is quite good. but the second? sorry i've seen enough to see it prolonged. but i've seen it anyway, doesn't impress me. i'll find the mirror. it sounds interesting. hey, and there's 'tale of the dark side' on hbo. i like that too. it has different horror story each episode. and actually i like the laughter of the skeleton who's the narrator of the tale.

Oh, you mean Friday 13th which deals with cursed antique items? Yeah, it's interesting, too. Actually, Freddy and Jason are already dead, right? But, yeah, they keep coming back. And when there's no other way to slay them, just turn off the tv! Hehehe... smart move, rhein! Well, I can't help it, teasing our teahouse keeper is really fun! ;D

Hmmpf....yeah, Pippichan is always naughty. Making me think that it's 1 movie instead of 2. Hmmpf.
Yeah! I like Sixth Sense and The Others. Very, very nice. Very exciting and unexpected. Very cool. Nicole Kidman and that old woman were really very good. I liked The Others a lot. Sixth Sense was scary in some parts.
Gosh, you guys are...strange!!! I don't know what would scare you two *shakes head* Amazing.
Ah...I don't watch Freddy or Jason because I think their movies are quite meaningless. Like you guys said, they never die and keep coming back...quite boring. Also, the movies seem to be just about killing, slashing and blood...there's no real story there.
Yeah, Rhein, Chinese horror movies are quite fun and silly sometimes. Which ones have you watched? Did you see the vampire movies? Those are the best!
Mm....Tales of the Dark Side? Do you mean Tales From The Dark Side? If it's Tales From the Dark Side, then it's an old show....Or is it Tales From the Crypt?

You know what I'm afraid of: losing money! Unlike you guys, I don't really enjoy horror movies which are silly and funny. Horror movies should be dark, tensed and creepy with blood and dead bodies all around. Eh, teahouse keeper, I've been wondering. Is that your picture when you're taking a walk in the evening?

HAHAHAHA!!! You mean the picture on top? Yeah, that's me taking a stroll Actually, it's the magical being from Princess Mononoke. It's called a Shishi God and this is the form it takes when walking at night In the day, it takes the form of a strange looking deer with antlers. It has power over life and death. At night, it walks around in a semi-transparent body with blue light shining out from it.

Yeah, I wonder why Japanese and Korean horror movies are making no sense. I mean, they're creepy but .... just don't make sense. Like JU-ON, it's about a woman who's killed by her husband and her body is hidden behind a closet (closet or attic? I'm slightly forgetting but I'm pretty sure it's a closet). Normally, the unrest ghost will linger until its dead body is found, right? In JU-ON, they've found the woman's body but her spirit still lingers in her house and seeks revenge to everyone who enters the house. I mean, everyone- including those who don't have anything to do with her, let alone know her when she's alive. I think she should just kill those who have been guilty to her.

To address an earlier topic, while Ringu was recently made into a manga it in fact existed as a novel even before the movies were made. Onto other horror. I've seen The Eye, Ju-On (both versions) and several other HK and Japanese horror films. Uzumaki and Evil Dead Trap are a few of the strange Japanese Ones. A really difficult series of movies to watch are the japanese movies entitles the Guinea Pig films. They are a series of 6 short films that were banned nearly world wide in the early 90's. They just lifted the ban two years ago for the United States. I bought one of the dvd's. Very very disturbing. Actually, I recommend everyone not to watch them; maybe the GP films "Mermaid in a Manhole," and "He never dies," would be the only ones worth watching, since they are sort of fantastic, instead of straight horror. Avoid "Flowers of Flesh and Blood," or, "The Android of Notre Dame" Good american horror is hard to find. "Session 9," and "Jacob's Ladder" are two of my favorites. I also like the Italian Giallo films from the late 70's and early 80's. Very euro slasher. quite gory too.

Oh?! Ringu was a novel first before the movies were made? I didn't know that Wow, TCO, you've seen so many samurai and horror films!!! I'm very impressed!! Thing is, some of the more obscure and art-type films are kinda hard to get. I haven't seen them in the stores. The Guinea Pig Films sound gross even though you haven't described anything yet. Why do you recommend avoiding "Flowers of Flesh and Blood" and "Android of Notre Dame"? How horrible are they? Blood everywhere? Detailed, gruesome mutilations? Torture? You like gory horror films?? *glances strangely at TCO* Why??

TCO, you scare the keeper, you know?! Haaah, too bad I can't find GP films and other titles you mentioned. Your description about them as 'disturbing' makes me curious. ;D

Heehehee.....yeah, I'm quite scared already, even without watching the movies. If the movies are really sitting on my desk, I don't think I want to see. Pippichan, you can have them *gives Pippichan the DVD*.
Well, hopefully, TCO will be back to talk about the horrible-ness of the movies. I haven't seen him in a while.

Have you ever watched horror movie with happy ending? Yeah, I know it sounds a little bit weird, *roll eyes* but I happened to find one. It's a japanese movie called 'Haunted School 4". Hmm... maybe because it's about children ghost story, it isn't scary at all ( I almost fell asleep while watching it ;D) ... and has happy ending. However, if you see the VCD cover, you might get the impression that the movie is quite scary!

Yeah!!! Pippichan, I saw that movie, but it was the first and second one, not number 4. Haunted School #1 and #2 were quite boring for me. I stayed up till late at night, thinking that they would be nice, but felt quite bored instead. Still, I watched till the end, just to know what it was like Yeah!!! It was happy endings for both. Very cute in a way because I like seeing the Japanese children. The kids are very cute and innocent The trailers made the movies look scary, but actually they're not scary at all. The ghosts/monsters are quite cute sometimes. Hahaha.....I remember there was some kind of giant red bouncing ball in #2, chasing the screaming children. Hahaha!!! Felt like hugging the ball. So cute and bouncy That's the cutest ghost I've ever seen.

Oh? You saw Haunted School 1 and 2? I didn't see them because the rental shop only got Haunted School 4. It's about some kids who were playing hide and seek at the school when there was a tsunami attack. Hmm... speaking about scary movie, I think the incoming horror movie entitled House of Wax is quite interesting.
