Keiske nodded in reply and then was silent for a moment, allowing all the information to completely settle in his mind. Mai abandoned her spot by the snack table and walked over to her older brother, grabbing onto his arm. She rested the side of her face against his arm and said, "Dont worry Kei, we'll be safe here. We' always are"
He looked down at her and smiled gently before turning his gaze back to Kitsune, studying her for a moment. "Is there anything we could do...to get her back?" he wondered out loud. It would have been a good deed to help Kitsune get her younger sibling back.

Keiske could understand how someone would hate the idea of going back home. Though home was supposed to be a persons safe haven, it was more like a box filled with painful memories. He knew he'd never go back home, nor would he allow Mai to. He didnt say anything now, for there wasnt much to say, but it was Mai that broke the silence.
"But..doesnt it bother you...not knowing for sure whether or not she's alive?" she wondered in a gentle tone.

"Our parents?" Mai asked a bit saddly, scratching her head and turned to look up at her brother. Her parents were always a sore subject for her....
"They arent around" Kei quickly answered with a shrug, as if there was no big deal. "What about you guys, no one waiting for you guys to come home anywhere? I mean, any boyfriends or anything worrying about you?"

Mai giggled, noticing how Kitsune had gotten embarrassed by the question and she nudged her brother gently before going to turn on some music in the living room.
Keiske obviously didnt catch the hint Mai was sending him and nodded at Kitsune. "Just making sure no ones worrying about you" he told her. Then looked at Shi-shi, wondering why she was so quiet.

The soft melody came to his ears and Keiske was forced to walk towards the living room. He knew that Mai couldnt play anything like that, and Kitsune had whispered a name....so who had broken into his appartment?

There was no one there. Keiske rubbed the back of his neck and sighed lightly. Was he going crazy? No..he couldnt have been. There was something wrong there. "Maybe we should all go somewhere else"

Not being able to see in the dark, Mai tripped over the small coffee table, and the cups that she had been holding stumbled over with her, shattering to pieces. "Ow" she complained, then stiffened, hearing the growl.
"Mai" Keiske said brusquly, reaching out to her. Mai touched his hand and he pulled her up. "What the hell is that?" she asked, hearing the growls.

"Whose here?" Mai asked in a paniced voice as she grabbed onto her brothers arm, hiding behind him. She could feel blood trickling down her legs from where she had gotten cut by the broken cups, but she didnt tell Keiske anything.
Keiske squinted, looking around. He didnt see anyone there at all. He balled his hands into fists and continued to look.
"Who?" he asked "Who is here?"

Keiske pulled her back and stood infront of the girls with his head tilted upward, listening for odd sounds. "Go out through the fire escape" he pointed backwards, and Mai began to open the window so that they could leave.

Keiske grabbed his younger sister and dove straight out the window after Kitsune. The girl had guts, jumping from an appartment window that was so high up. Keiske admired that.
Mai held on tightly to her older brother as he jumped and let out a small shriek. "Whats going on?" she demanded.
"Kitsune, wheres the best place to go, where we cant be found?" Keiske asked.

"This is really gross" Mai complained. Keiske sighed and leaned over so that she could climb onto his back. She did so happily, glad to be out of the icky water.
"Kitsune, where are you leading us?" Keiske asked, squinting, waiting for his eyes to adjust to the darkness.

After a few minutes of sloshing through the dirty sewer water, Keiske decided to try a different approach. He leaned over, resting his hand, palm open, lightly on the water. He concentrated for a moment, and soon the water froze over. Keiske climbed onto the newly frozen water. It was a quicker way to move, since he could simply slide across the ice.
Mai held on tightly as they glided past Kitsune and Shi-shi.

"I never thought Id end in in a sewer with a bunch of girls" Keiske replied with a small grin as he glided across the ice. The air was beginning to smell cleaner, and when he squinted, he could see a ladder built into the wall.
A way out!
Once he reached it, he held onto it, but moved to the side to allow the girls to climb up first.
