I'm currently reading this manga written by Naoya Sagara. Very interesting story, I think. See if you agree with me.
Hasukawa Kazuhito is a boy who doesn't remember anything in his life except for the past 5 years. He works as a shop assisstant, lives with a roommate named Muraoka Shinji and has a girlfriend, Aihara Hikaru. Kazu appears to be an ordinary boy who doesn't like looking for troubles - he's often addressed as a coward because of that.
But Kazu's quiet life is about to change when he gets a mysterious call one day - saying that the caller will come for him very soon. Then he experience some strange events afterwards; finding a piece of paper in his drawer which contains a message to meet someone at a cafe in front of train station, his roommate who seems to be not his roommate but someone else and bumping into a girl named Kamiyama Risa who claims herself as his girlfriend and kisses him while muttering, "Accept... release." According to her, she's gonna wake up Kai.
Doesn't have any idea who the heck Kai is, Kazu panics and runs away. He's saved from the chase of Risa's men by a guy in police uniform named Masaki. He tells Kazu to jump into a van. Kazu does what he's told and suddenly ... Kazu finds himself in a room with a woman named Makoto. Just like Risa, she's got intention to wake up Kai too.
The van Kazu gets into turns out to be a time machine and he's brought 70 years to the future where Tokyo has separated from Japan and become an independent country. Thing is, unlike other Japan's regions Tokyo escapes from meteor shower. And with military support, Tokyo then declares its independence - practically throwing away other damaged Japan's region which suffer from financial deficit and even builds a high wall to separate Tokyo from Japan. Those things trigger Japanese people's jealousy towards Tokyo people. In fact, there's a terrorist group called Nihon Seitoukai whose mission is putting Tokyo in mess.
From this kind of future a figure named Kai comes. He is a member of Nightmare - a group of killers formed to protect Tokyo people from criminal acts done by Japanese people - who mysteriously disappeared 5 years ago. Kai is known as a cold-blooded killer who becomes some sort of legend in Nightmare. It's said he can escapes bullets and fight with bare hands.
Nightmare members are all teenagers with Masaki as the leader. This calm, long-haired boy looks very cool when he acts shooting his opponent with his finger pistol while the real shooter is his sister, Misaki, who's actually Nightmare's sniper. The youngest member is Jun, a brilliant hacker and unfaltered killer. And there's a member with big body who's not very popular named Shinobu. And acting as the one who takes care and responsibles for Nightmare is Makoto - a beautiful woman who likes to drive in high speed.
Is it true that Kai's locked inside Kazu? I think it is. Because there're several occassions when Kazu can do martial arts moves without fully realising it. But so far, no one is succeeded in waking up Kai. When will it happen? And how Kazu will be if it happens?
