Had the impression it's popular because people put it in their list of favourites. So, rented it recently. Finished watching, then did some online browsing. Discovered that Wolf's Rain has many positive reviews and many fans. Made by Studio Bones that also made Cowboy Bebop. 26 TV episodes aired in Japan in 2003 but the ending left viewers hanging. So, 4 additional OAV episodes were released in the same year. I didn’t see the OAV, but considering the 26 episodes…<br> I thought everything was ok except the story which was rather loose and vague. A lot of things went unexplained and I thought things would become clearer at the end, but the ending didn’t resolve issues. It was rather good at the start but then it slowed down. Midway, it was very strange to see the unnecessary recap episodes that completely replayed what each character went through previously. Sometimes, the music was odd and jarring. I thought the artwork was ok, but then the reviews said it’s great... It was actually quite surprising to read all the extremely positive reviews. However!! I like the characters, the seiyuus, the theme songs and the ideas! Although a review said the 4 main characters are typical, I think they were very interesting to watch. I like Tsume a lot!! Handsome, quick, reliable, resourceful, independent, COOL!! After Tsume, Kiba is good too…Enigmatic, quiet, ferocious. Why is Tsume spelt “Tsume” when it sounds like “Zi Mei”? For seiyuus, I’m not familiar with the cast, but they have really great voices! It’s a pity their voice roles in other anime are not many. Tsume’s voice (Kenta Miyake) is nice and deep. Kiba’s voice (Mamoru Miyano) is very soothing, especially when he is narrating his thoughts as a wolf at the beginning. For theme songs, the opening theme “Stray” by Steve Conte is good, but “Gravity” by Maaya Sakamoto is even better! Her voice is absolutely fabulous! It’s heavenly when she sings “Tell Me What The Rain Knows”. The ideas are also great...Wolves magically disguised as humans in order to live in a ruined world...the search for Rakuen—wolves' paradise…a young flower girl genetically created from flowers... Maybe when I get the 4 OAV episodes, I'll understand the story better. As it is, I don't quite understand Darcia's role, why his beloved Harmona was cursed and why Cheza was created. Also, the existence of the noblemen is quite confusing and their purpose in the story is not clear. Anyone seen the OAVs? Here’s sexy, adorable Tsume: img13.exs.cx/img13/2734/wolfrainsexytsumeresize300.jpg[/img]It was quite hard finding good quality images. CONTAINS SPOILERS!!! READERS BEWARE!!! You think the OAV will solve anything I'm sorry to say you are mistaken.. It does explain a few things, but most is left unexplained. The ending is really good, but I hated it... I'll get to that in a minute. I do love the story, but agree. It should have been a longer series, meaning they should have spent more time in certain areas... the characters seemed to recover from injury extremely quickly which I find funny. They are typical, the main characters... I mean you have the pretty boy tough guy-Tsume. You have the lovable baby-Toboe. The girl-obsessed, funny one-Hige. The mysterious, everything-is-about-me-I've-had-a-bad-past one-Kiba. The all important female-Cheza. The lovers-Cher and Hubb. The bad guys-Darcia, Oakum-when he was there, and Jagara. The misfit-Blue, and the one that doesn't belong-Quent... Yet you have to love them all. SPOILER!!!!-Start As for the ending... well it was really bad, but really good. You see along in the last 4 episodes or so, Jagara dies, Cher dies, then Quent and Toboe, then Hubb, then Blue and Hige, then Tsume, then Darcia, then Cheza, and last-clearly- Kiba... it's like they rushed it, trying to kill everyone off... In the end, everyone but Darcia, Cheza, and Kiba die before making it to the final place. Darcia dies because Cheza's blood is posioned and he was not 'protected' by the flowers... yet when he dies his wolf eye is left in the water, so you know something is going to happen. Cheza sorta disappears in Kiba's arms after giving a speech. Mainly she says that the world is closing up and dying. That for a while nothing will really be real, it will all be black... then the world will be re-born, hence paradise. That Kiba, Tsume, Hige, Toboe, and her-she fails to mention the others I'm pretty sure- will be in the paradise. That she will then be in her true form because the flower madian thing is not really 'her.' That when they find eachother they must go out and find her... then they can live together.... Once she dies and is gone, seeds fall everywhere. Then it shows Kiba walking and narrating again... it flashes back to show everyone where they fell, then back to Kiba who is dying as well. The world begins to freeze over and moonflowers start to grow where Cheza fell. Only the area around Darcia's wolf eye begins to turn black, including the flowers. meaning there will be evil in 'paradise.' The area around Kiba falls away into water and he falls in, still somewhat alive but sinks... Then it flashes to a city. Kiba is running, but in different clothing. Tsume is dressed different too and on a motorcycle, and watches Kiba run by but they don't seem to know eachother. Then Kiba runs by Hige-carrying a bag of food and eating- and Toboe-picking a kitten out of a box- both dressed different. I think this is suppose to stand for what Cheza said about the world being Black and not really there in the space of time after the world died and paradise was reborn. Yet it shows all four main male characters sorta living in an illusion before paradise opens, yet nobody else... it doesn't at any point since they died mention Blue, Darcia, Hubb, Cher, or Quent. My guess is Darcia is just gone, or will come back as the new evil-the eye. Hubb, Cher, and Quent are either gone, or will be in paradise as new humans... and I'm guessing Blue will be in paradise too, but just sorta wandering... They really could make a second Wolf's Rain, showing what happened to them all and the new evil.... SPOILER-end So ya, the ending pissed me off... I really began throwing things at the TV... lol I hope they make a second one, or else I will.... keep you posted on that...

Oh heavens. From your description, I think the OAV is worse than the 26 episodes. On top of leaving things unexplained, they kill off all the well-loved characters in "fuzzy" ways. It's really a pity because the main idea of the quest for paradise is really good. I thought the creators would take the chance to explain themselves in the OAV, even if paradise couldn't be found. In fact, I was hoping to see the best possible scenario: things explained, paradise found, everybody happy. At the very least, something less vague than what the 26 episodes left us with. A second Wolf's Rain? I doubt it'll be better unless it's done with a better and different approach to the storyline. At the moment, I'm still in the process of downloading Wolf's Rain. It's terribly slow and I'm thinking of stopping...But at the same time, I want to see the ending, even if it's bad. Actually, I miss seeing the characters, especially Tsume I don't want to think about his death Hahaha...yeah, this Wolf's Rain wallpaper is the best I could find after a great deal of searching. It's very beautifully done with the 4 main characters together and the moon behind them. It's from a French site that has great images. Go to the last link beneath Tsume's image here. At the site, click on the Wallpapers section and you'll see it on the first page

It was a bad ending but I still liked it, in a wierd sort of way. I know what you mean... seeing Hige ask to be put down, then seeing Tsume die... I all about cried, but I did throw things... *Sigh* I wish they would do a second one, or redo the first... Like I said before I think a fic about the second would work, but I might redo the first as well... my way, more interesting...
Maybe they ran out of money, or ideas... lol
By the way thanks for the website, it is good... sorry in a rush at the moment... talk to you soon...

Yeah, I know how weird it must feel to both like and not like the ending...I still haven't seen it however. Still downloading....
Oh? You've a more interesting way of doing Wolf's Rain? What might that be?

I was annoyed with the fact that cartoon network cut out soo many scenes from the final episode. My uncle was talking with me about Wolfs Rain and he started talking about the last episode...and there were many things that he mentioned that never came out! I went ahead and bought the first 3 DVD's. I cant wait for the others!

Did it confuse you because you didnt understand why that happened? or did it confuse you because they cut so many things out?

It's kinda both. Like at the very end I didn't really get the flower, and with everybody alive (kiba, toboe, hige, and tetsume) again.

I wasnt too fond of the ending..mostly because I had a different ending in mind, but it definetly fit the series I suppose. I almost cried at the scene between Cheza and Kiba.

Does anyone know how many DVD's there are? The box holds 7 DVD's but one site told me there were 10, another told me 6, and then from a man who worked at suncoast, I heard 8. Does anyone know the final number?

The 7th DVD comes out in May? So then its a two month wait after the 6th, because it comes out now in March. I know theres a box set with all the DVD's already included, because when I was purchasing my copy of the 5th DVD, the man at the register told me he saved alot of money by buying the complete set at once.

Nader, how's Wolf's Rain for you? It's interesting, certainly different. I just finished the second disk.

Eh.....Krizia, it doesn't make sense that there's a complete DVD set at this moment. If the set exists, it will be available online. But so far, I've not seen it anywhere (unless you've seen it?). Also, if the 7th DVD only comes out in May, how is it possible the man has a full set already?
I think there'll be a complete set, but only after the 7th is out. So, that guy meant that if you get the boxed set when it's out, it'll be cheaper than buying individually now.
Ahh!! Nader.....So you like Wolf's Rain then? Yeah, it has a very intriguing and interesting concept of wolves living among humans as illusions. Very, very interesting. Also, the idea of wolves being attracted to the scent of a human flower. Sexy and intriguing.
Which episodes does the second disk cover? Where are you at, Nader?
So.....on to the 3rd disk?

I recently finished the 6th disk, and yeah it gets pretty interesting, yet there is still alot of suspense, when do they actually explain more about the nobles and creation of man by wolves?
and when does the 7th disk come out?
My favorite character is probably Darcia, what about you?

I love Hige! After Hige, I have to say my favorite is Toboe, then Tsume, then Kiba. I think Darcia is an interesting character, I just dont like the fact that he's bad ^.^
Im waiting for the next disk...I heard it came out near May or June...
