I feel so odd having just finished reading the manga. I had begun reading it a very long time ago, forgot about it when I couldn't find scanalations for it and then now I read the last chapter...and every single thing that was said about Haou Airen here is exactly...what I'm feeling at the moment. Although...I'm absolutely frustrated and in the hopes of lessening all this...utter sadness over the ending I found this place...and even if no one see's this little rambling it's nice to know that I can vent out my feelings over the ending. It ended so bittersweet and I feel so angry for Kurumi and Hakuron...I feel angry for characters that are not real...but feel so real to me. F**k...I want to know why the hell they don't get a chance at a happy ending?? It seems so cruel that way...and yes, perhaps Hakuron did ask for that ending, still it's a damn shame...to be taken away on the day he was to be married. On the day he was going to make Kurumi his bride...it was supposed to be a beautiful day...a normal day. Shattered. I feel for everyone who went about experiencing Kurumi and Hakuron's story...and that phrase it is better to have loved and lost then to never have loved at all, keeps popping into my mind...and that in reality...the ending was the most appropriate...I keep rambling...but...despite the ending...it has become my favorite manga and I believe I shall remember this story for the rest of my life <3

Hahaha.. yeah, the ending is really... unbearable. But then, yeah, it's what makes it great and memorable. Different from the usual "happily ever after".

In a way, it's still a happy ending, with the guys and Kurumi remembering Hakuron. A reunion.

"Better to have loved and lost..." Hmm... in this case, it wasn't fair at all.

The drama CDs have an alternate ending, where Hakuron and Kurumi do manage to say their "I do's". However, Eason Yan then shows up and sets the church on fire. Hakuron tells Fuuron and Suiron (who are also at the wedding and are the only members of the Shi Tennou still alive) to get Kurumi somewhere safe while he goes back inside to kill Eason. He succeeds, but by then it seems he can no longer escape the fire. Kurumi then appears, having ran back inside. Hakuron finally tells her he loves her, and explains that she is his "airen," the one woman a man truly loves. The two of them kiss as the church collapses. The scene changes to Fuuron and Suiron talking about how only Eason's body was found in the ruins, how they believe that Hakuron and Kurumi are still alive at some unknown place, and that they will see them again. The drama CD ends with Hakuron and Kurumi laughing with their daughter.

I've seen his name spelled in many different ways. He's Hakuron's rival and the head of the White Tiger Organization (an earlier post spelled his name as "Yang Yi Shan"). I myself prefer spelling it as "Eason Yang."

I personally like the alternate ending much better than the original one. Hakuron actually settles his rivalry with Eason, unlike the original, where we never found out what became of Hakuron's rival. Even if the drama CD had ended with the burning church collapsing around Hakuron and Kurumi, I still would have preferred the alternate ending, since the two of them would have died happily together. I understand that you might think that Kurumi and Hakuron leaving the mafia world behind to start a family might make the story seem mundane, but I think that it's a good way of showing that their efforts to remain by each other's sides were not in vain. Also, it's not as if the alternate ending completely whitewashes the original story. As Athena25 stated above, both Fuoron and Diron die in the drama CD adaptation, and the way they each meet their deaths is pretty heart-wrenching as well. Additionally, someone's been slowly uploading tracks from the drama CDs with English subtitles on YouTube, so eventually, you'll be able to hear the entire drama CD series yourself
